FAQs about Jenny and DH
Q: How long have Jenny and DH been married?
A: When the strip opens, Jenny and DH have been married about a year.
Q: Where are they from?
A: They're both from Colorado Springs.
Q: How did they meet?
A: DH was a cadet at the Air Force Academy and Jenny was an art student downtown. She got an opportunity to put a piece of her work in a gallery show at USAFA and met DH there when he stopped to admire her...and her art, of course. After talking, they realized they both had something in common: neither of them ever understood the significance of Andy Warhol's "Flattened Soup Can Series ". That's when they realized they were meant to be together! Isn't that romantic?
Q: Where have Jenny and DH been stationed?
A: They are currently on their first "real" assignment together. After DH graduated, he and Jenny were married in the Chapel at the Academy. He soon had to go to pilot training but Jen stayed behind to finish college*. As soon as she could, though, she joined him at the pilot training base that seemed just like they were in Kansas (see "Are We There Yet?", episode #5).
*This was Jenny's first sacrifice as a military spouse.
Q: Where are they now?
A: They never reveal their location. It's not good in today's culture to give out too much information. All we know is that they left the pilot training base and went to a very hot and humid location ("Are We There Yet?", episode #5) with a great MWR Beach ("MWR Beach, episode #6).
Q: What does DH mean?
A: National Security is also the reason we never give out the real name of DH. He is the consummate Dear Husband (DH) of all of us: he's a geek ("96.1% humidity", 4DEC05); he's clueless to the sacrifices of his spouse ("What's a good time for you?", 6NOV05); and he thinks only of his "I Love Me" wall while packing (Panel 4, 20NOV05). Sounds just like my own DH.
Q: What kind of airplane does DH fly?
A: That's another thing that Jenny and DH don't reveal. You have to look at the clues from each episode to see what you think DH flies. Try to see what you can discern from episode #3: "Do We Tip Movers?".
Q: Come to think of it, why in the world would Jenny think she's supposed to tip the movers?
A: She read it in her favorite forum and place for spouses to go for information and support: Air Force Crossroads. She was confused because she'd never done a military PCS before and didn't really know what was 'practiced procedure'. That's why she asked DH. Of course, he thought she was crazy. (Episode #3, "Do We Tip Movers?")
Q: Why do you keep referring to the strips as "episodes"?
A: Because every strip is another installment in the saga of Jenny and DH. Just like a play, or television serial, each part is important to their growth as a couple. Therefore, "episode" seems to best describe each segment, i.e., each individual strip.
